Golf Course Residence
This outdated 70’s side-split, backing on to a private golf course, was updated to a serene “Hamptons-styled” home. Our client valued open concept spaces, natural light, and organic materials. The front of the home was re-painted using a monochromatic colour scheme, adding new ceder siding shingles, streamlined eavestroughs, and black front door.

Before
New windows and doors, including the garage, were a must to improve the efficiency of the home. Major landscaping and armour stone retaining walls were built to flatten the yard and front entrance.

Before
Brining the natural feel into the home, we opted for light white oak hardwood floors, shiplap lining the front hallway, and new two-tone stairs to match the floors. We also helped the client source all lighting throughout the home.

Going up the stairs, you enter the large, open-concept main floor – perfect for entertaining and enjoying with large groups. In the kitchen, we used custom cabinetry to maximize storage space with a 9’ center island.
Upgrades included an instant hot water tap, double drawer dishwasher, and sleek counter depth fridge.

Before

The small narrow kitchen was expanded after knocking down several walls and adding two beams. Large air ducts found on the middle of the main floor were hidden behind the pantry cabinets.

Soapstone was used around the fireplace, flanked by custom bookshelves. Our signature look includes a Samsung Frame TV with a white Sonos Soundbar.
To incorporate more organic materials, we sourced matching linen slipcovered sofas that can easily be washed after any spills. Who says white is not functional?

Upstairs, the primary bedroom provides ample storage with a custom wall to wall closet. Other signature touches from Alex Kennedy Homes include wall sconce lighting and automatic shades.

For the primary ensuite bathroom, the vision was to create a “Four Seasons” spa retreat. A big upgrade from the original 70’s brown tile! We reconfigured the layout to include a zellige tiled curbless shower, with a Corian wrapped soaking tub. Corian is an alternative to quartz and marble, that gives a seamless appearance and is very easy to clean as it’s non-porous.

Attention to the smallest detail is what you can expect from our team. From quality fixtures to perfect transitions between hardwood and tile.

Throughout the home, we added custom built ins to maximize storage in the existing closet openings.

Before
In the lower level, we converted this utility room/bathroom to a dedicated laundry room.

Before
Our favourite part of this home is the lower-level family room. We modernized the old wainscotting with shiplap throughout. Even tying in the soapstone fireplace from upstairs.

On the other side of the family room, we added a wet bar – perfect for entertaining inside or out! Through the sliding door, you walk into beautiful patio that underwent major landscaping.

Before
The old stone patio was very small and had little privacy with neighbouring yards.

We doubled the size of the patio with a new armour stone retaining wall and stairs. For additional privacy, we built a lattice wall and planted a ceder hedge that will continue to grow in years to come.
